The Aberdeen Choral Society was instituted by the late Sheriff David Henderson, jeweller in Union Street, who was senior baillie of Aberdeen Town Council in 1947.

.
Aberdeen Choral Society has for over 50 years performed to the inhabitants of Aberdeen and environs most of the popular choral works.

Every December the Music Hall in Aberdeen is filled to capacity for the performance of Handel's Messiah - for so many an essential date in the Christmas calendar!

In March the Society performs a concert featuring works by composers such as Brahms, Dvorak, Beethoven, Verdi, and Mendelssohn amongst others.

Previous guest soloists include:

Lisa Milne - Colette Ruddy - James Huw Jeffries - Richard Coxon - Simon Kirkbride - Evelyn Tubb - Paul Esswood - Maldwyn Davies - Henry Herford - Pat McMahon - Neil Mackie

We are supported by The Grampian Sinfonia Orchestra and conducted by Alistair Macdonald, the Musical Director since 1989.

We are very grateful to Aberdeen City Council, The Scottish Arts Council, and Making Music for their continued support and financial assistance. Links to the websites of these three organisations can be found at the foot of every page within this site.
